Manchester-based producer and visual artist - catch92 provides another insight to his forthcoming album ‘Patchwork’ in the shape of the classic soul-tinged sample flipping track ‘Anor’.

Coming via Asta Hiroki's Folded Music imprint the album is a melting pot of hip hop beats, jazzy bumps, and downtempo electronica on his first full-length for the label -with ‘Anor’ a standout from the bunch.

When creating, catch92 uses any and every production method at his disposal, with the overarching ethos of being entirely open to exploring any musical avenue and not worrying about maintaining a specific sound, instrument, or narrative throughout the collection.

Starting life as a handful of sample chops and a break thrown together he arranged a basic idea to perform at the regular Workinonit hip hop event. After road testing it to a great reaction, the idea captured his imagination as to what it could become and he reworked the project to its current state - a high-quality soulful beat a la J Dilla’s ‘Donuts’, or the widespan creations of Madlib, and Knxwledge.

Despite the bittersweet nature of the music there is still room for a smile, with the title is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the vocal sample which sounds to say “I Know” through a Yorkshire accent - which the producer is fond of.

Having steadily gained a reputation as one of the most interesting names working with leftfield hip hop styles catch92 has received praise and regular spins on BBC 6 Music, FIP, Couleur 3, RadioEins, and across the Radio Campus network, in addition to some big placements on key Spotify hip hop editorial playlists.
