Manchester based producer and visual artist - Catch92 provides an intriguing collection of lofi, hiphop, and ambient electronica on Asta Hiroki's newly formed Folded Music imprint - with 'Wander' - a surreal journey of an EP inspired by the Lewis Carroll literary classic and popular culture mainstay - Alice in Wonderland...

Having steadily gained a reputation as one of the most interesting names working with leftfield hip hop styles Catch92 has received praise and regular spins on BBC Introducing. Singles from this EP have continued to impress at radio with strong support on BBC 6Music, Worldwide FM and Couleur 3 to name a few.

Fusing his trademark lofi beat based sonics with newfound electronica, ambient, and surrealist influences, the producer expands his horizons further than ever over 5 tracks that segue smoothly throughout to create a cohesive vivid dream-like audio experience.

The producer himself explains the spark behind the project:

"I bought 'Alice's Adventures In Wonderland' soundtrack on vinyl from SK1 Records for my girlfriend as it is one of her favourite movies, at the time the owner (Synkro) said it’s full of great samples and it took me far too long to check it out, but thanks for the tip off!

I sampled the "Overture" and this was the starting point for "Wander" - as the track evolved the sample moved further to the background until eventually I removed it but I was still left with my imagination flailing through this cavalcade of soundscapes. I wanted to keep things a little more experimental and different. I think my beats will always sound slightly jazzy and fused with hip hop in some sense but I pushed myself to switch things up a little."

And straight from the first lines of 'Wake' the new experimental psychedelic influence is apparent, with the ambient opener starring a gorgeous hypnotic synth line over creative sound design and lush delicate strings before the EP hits its stride with the title track 'Wander' and its moody aesthetic and deep subs providing some low end muscle. 'Rabbit Hole' is a pleasantly mysterious jaunt onto the latter half of the collection and primes the listener for two more bumps with audio easter eggs aplenty in 'The Glitch' and 'Reset' that showcase his abstract hip hop chops perfectly.

It's an exciting and adventurous sound perfect for those in search of curious and inventive music that still has bags of groove.
